Meet Bec Cook
My passion for Physiotherapy bloomed when I was 12 years old undergoing rehab following an ACL reconstruction surgery. My Physio was amazing at helping me get back to running, netball and touch football after 12 months of rehab. It made me think what a rewarding job – being able to help people, reduce their pain, improve their function and get them back to doing what they love.
I graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2016, and I opened BodyThrive Physiotherapy in Inverell in 2021. I have absolutely loved being back in my hometown and working with the amazing community here.
I love working with people to help address their issues, and not just determine what is going on but delve deeper to understand why the issue has occurred in the first place. Empowering people to understand their bodies and working with them to achieve their goals is very rewarding.
I also have a special interest in Women’s Health. From pregnancy to postnatal and all things pelvic floor, I am passionate about empowering women to address their pelvic floor issues which can massively improve quality of life.

Meet Peter Furness
My passion for physiotherapy was founded through working as a Professional Contemporary Ballet Dancer and wanting to know why some dancers were always injured. Working with dance companies gave me an appreciation and thirst for knowledge on how to move without injury or pain. I investigated and explored this via a career as a Remedial Massage Therapist working with professional dance companies and AFL clubs, and then later to operating clinics in Sydney’s CBD with triathletes, runners, CrossFit/HYROCKs competitors, rowers, paddlers, volleyballers and all number of weekend warriors and active people.
After 20 years of exploring remedial therapy, I decided to challenge myself and explore a physiotherapy degree, harnessing my clinical knowledge with further evidence based training. This has led me to expand my professional practice to manage acute and chronic conditions and maximise quality of life for all people across the community.
I graduated from Western Sydney University in 2025/26 undertaking an honours research study in Indigenous Physiotherapy and connecting with my own Indigenous heritage. Being a country boy from Dubbo, I’m passionate about promoting best health and quality of life for regional and rural communities. I want to promote the best quality health care for local communities that have particular needs and challenges unique to rural Australia.
I really enjoy moving. I love the challenge of making my body continue to do things and perform, especially as I push towards my senior years. Why not do the splits at 50? To live well is to live fully. Maintaining movement and vitality throughout our entire lifespan is something I am particularly passionate about.
I’ve had the fortune of working with some amazing coaches and health practitioners across multiple fields from yoga instructors to dance practitioners, volleyball and tennis coaches and gymnastics/calisthenics practitioners. I’ve also worked alongside allied health practitioners including Osteopaths, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturists, Sports Doctors and Chiropractors.
I’m super excited to bring my experiences to Inverell, a place I’ve been coming ‘home to’ for 25 years, and promoting a vibrant life for the entire community.
